Speaker: Brian Sylva
Brian Sylva is an elected Trustee for the Mt. San Jacinto Community College District, representing communities from Beaumont and Banning to Temecula and Idyllwild. A graduate of UC Riverside with a degree in history, he has spent his career in journalism, communications, athletics, and public service.
Professionally, Sylva serves as Sports Information Director at College of the Desert, where he oversees media relations and communications for the college’s 13 intercollegiate athletic programs. He previously spent nine years in the same role at San Bernardino Valley College and nearly a decade as a reporter for The Press-Enterprise.
In addition to his elected service, Sylva has held leadership positions with the Beaumont Chamber of Commerce, Beaumont Unified School District, the San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital Healthcare District, and statewide California community college athletics organizations.
Known for blending history, humor, and practical insights, Sylva enjoys helping audiences better understand government and public policy. He and his wife, Jennie Rose, have been married for 21 years and are the proud parents of twin daughters.
